The champions of multitasking
These multitasking champion deserve a bit more credit for their efforts. A beautiful mature tree in the garden increases the value of a home by about 1,500 EUR. Trees cool their environment by evaporating water. A large young tree has the same cooling capacity as 10 domestic air conditioning units! The more space there is for plants and the larger the plants are, the less is the risk of flooding. Trees and shrubs form the key elements in the sequestration of CO2 in cities, as they store CO2 in the form of wood for decades or even centuries. A tree can easily evaporate 150 litres of water in a single day in the summer.
